Should I Become A Photographer?

I love photographing people and places. I’ve also developed a new obsession for editing photos to make them look edgy. I’ve always loved photography since I was younger. Although to be fair I have gotten a little annoyed with people asking me to photograph them when we travel/go out. I don’t mind taking photos, I mind stopping every 2 minutes to take 20 photos all in the same angle! I totally love taking photographs to record the memories but hate how social media has made it all about getting that perfect shot to post.

I still have a lot to learn including how to get the best out of my camera, the right angles, the lighting and more. But here are some of my favourite photos from the past few months –

I handpicked these photos out of hundreds. All of these were shot on my phone (Pixel 7) and edited on Lightroom.

So what’s your verdict? Should I try and become a photographer?

PS: When I say photographer, I mean as a hobby on the side not as a full time career. My old camera (which was a hand me down from my sister) is in shambles now but if I can do this on the side, I’d invest in a new camera.

PPS: If you’re in Delhi and want to go on a photo walk or have a photo shoot, please reach out to me through the contact form or email.

These pictures are really stunning. ✨
And to answer your question, yes you should become a photographer.

I love photography as well. I think its surreal to look at the world from different perspectives.

Why not? If it’s a healthy thing to do (check), and it makes you happy (check), then go for it. There’s no need to define it as a career or hobby. I’d just look at it as something you enjoy doing. That’s what writing is for me. I enjoy doing it. If I make a few bucks in the process, great, but I’m not counting on it.
