Content I Binged Watched Recently: Netflix, Hotstar (Hulu)

If you know me, you probably know that I hate starting a new series and usually end up rewatching old content on repeat. But every once in a while an intriguing storyline convinces me to give a new series a chance. Here are a few new series that I watched over the last 2 months and my thoughts on them –

1. Not Dead Yet:

This is a brand new sitcom series that started airing early this year. I’ve been following it week on week and love the overall storyline. The show follows Nell who is trying to get her life back to normal after a bad break-up. She’s broke, living with a flatmate and starting over in a job that she quit 10 years back to move countries with her then boyfriend. Her low paying job revolves around writing obituaries and she starts seeing dead people. Every episode revolves around a new theme, a new dead person and involves a new learning for Nell.

While some episodes are a miss, I like the positive message of the show – that you can start over at any point.

Available on Disney Hotstar in India.

2. How I Met Your Father :

I’m not ashamed to admit that I love the show ‘How I Met Your Mother’. So this new reboot piqued my interest more so because of Hilary Duff, who plays the lead. I didn’t really like the first few episodes, but the show is slowly getting better. I don’t think it is as good as the original series but it’s okay for a one time watch.

Available on Disney Hotstar in India.

3. The Seven Lives of Lea:

This French series has such an interesting storyline that I was compelled to watch it. The show revolves around 17 year old Lea who is just living life for the heck of it with no goals or plans. While partying one day she stumbles across the dead body of a young 17 year old boy who was murdered in the 90s. That night when she sleeps, she wakes up in the 90s as the boy. She tries to solve the mystery of his murder and prevent it. Will she be able to?

I really loved watching this show. It was intriguing, nail biting and had me watching late into the night. I can’t recommend this series enough!

Watch it on Netflix.

4. 1899:

A ship travelling from London to New York gets mysterious messages from a ship that has been lost in the sea. When they rescue the ship, weird things start happening aboard the ship and affecting the passengers.

I honestly didn’t finish this show, I didn’t understand it completely and just couldn’t bother to watch the limited episodes.

Watch it on Netflix.

What have you been binging on lately? Any fun recommendations?

I haven’t watched any of these yet… Not Dead Yet sounds interesting– I loved Gina Rodriguez in Jane the Virgin, so excited to see another show with her!

I honestly only started watching the show because I recently watched Jane the Virgin. Although I think Not Dead Yet is definitely targeting an older audience – the kind facing a mid-life crisis.
